Bansko
Bansko is one of the fastest developing Bulgarian mountain resorts.
Situated at the foothills of the beautiful Pirin Mountains, the resort is equally attractive during all seasons. It has pleasant summer temperatures of 25 to 30 ºC and in the winter a ski season of at least 4 months, with temperatures ranging from -2ºC to +10 ºC.
Bansko is easily accessed being 2 hours from Sofia, 2 hours from Plovdiv and 3 hours from the border with Turkey ;
Over 200 million Euros has been invested in Bansko for the last few years, resulting in an excellent development of ski runs, facilities and infrastructure all according to European standards. It now has the country's most modern ski centre, with 65km of marked pistes.
The combination of a modern mountain ski resort and a thriving historical town makes Bansko an excellent place for entertainment. The traditional taverns in the town offer a local atmosphere and with regional cuisine and Bulgarian wines and in contrast there is now a good selection of modern bars, discos and night clubs usually open into the early hours.
South of Bansko you will find the Pirin National Park with its lakes, waterfalls, caves, venerable trees and historical sites. Bansko is also famous for its mineral springs.
Borovets
Set amidst the majestic forest-clad Rila Mountains, Borovets is the oldest and most developed mountain resort in Bulgaria. Dating back to the 19th century and once a hunting ground for Bulgarian Kings, Borovets is now an internationally renowned resort, with a variety of skiing to suit all levels and an impressive assortment of bars and restaurants.
Borovets is 65 km from Sofia and a one-hour drive along a picturesque canyon above the river Iskar.
An all year round resort, Borovets has permanent snow cover from November to May, more than 1.5 m thick and is a haven for Hikers, sports and nature lovers in the Summer time.
Sunny Beach
Sunny beach is Bulgaria's largest and most popular seaside resort, located on an 8km strip of the wide bay along the southern part of the Black Sea Riveria. It is located only 35km from Bourgas, making it an easily accessible resort, which boasts clean, sandy beaches, safe waters and an abundance of holiday entertainment. With over 100 hotels, countless restaurants, pubs and clubs, there is something at Sunny beach to suit all tastes.
Pomorie
Pomorie is a city on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It is located in Burgas Province 20 km from Burgas and 18 km from Sunny Beach. Pomorie is an ancient city and today an important tourist destination.
The town of Pomorie is one of the most stunning towns on the sea shore, an exclusive and striking healing centre and resort. Thousands of Bulgarian and foreign tourists visit the sanatorium complex every year, taking advantage of the healing qualities of the famous Pomorie mud. The distinctive charm of the cobblestone streets, the romance of the seaside boulevards and the fine-looking houses, the wide beach strip and the contemporary mud-healing treatments have made Pomorie a hugely attractive resort.
It has recently been announced that a new recreational sports complex called “ KABLAND ” is going to be constructed close to the small town of Kableshkovo, Pomorie. It will be situated over 2 million m² of land and aimed at golf loving tourists. This holiday village will consist of 100's of elite villas, hotels, pools, also a race course, restaurants, shops, tennis courts, a casino, a football and polo field, and 18 hole golf course.
Kavarna
Kavarna is a beautiful and peaceful area of the Black Sea Coast, situated close to the beach resorts of Albena and Golden Sands. Dotted with small coastal towns and the Kavarna Yacht Club, there is plenty to sea and do in the area. There is also much investment planned, to include three 18 hole PGA golf courses. Development will be carefully undertaken, with restriction from the government and the hilly slopes of the natural terrain.
Varna
A district town, situated on Varna Bay on the Black Sea, 469 km north-east of Sofia, a seaside resort with a population of over 350 000. Varna is the biggest and most lively town on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, attracting thousands of tourists every year, the main cultural centre of the country during the summer.
The city is surrounded by gardens, vineyards and groves. The pedestrian centre with its shops, bars starting from the cathedral to the sea garden is extremely pleasant. Varna is an all year holiday destination. Beyond the high Season its balneo therapy facilities can help you unwind and enjoy the many sights and sounds in peace. Apart from being a beach resort, Varna rivals the great cities of Sofia and Plovdiv, in its offering of cultural attractions and historical buildings, museums and art galleries.

Sofia
Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria and is home to 1.5 million people. It is one of the oldest capital cities in Europe, blending its past and present in a remarkable mix of over 3000 years of architectural styles.
Unlike many European capital cities, you won´t find all of Sofia 's sights compacted into a tiny Old Town. They are spread out throughout this large and vibrant capital, which thankfully has an excellent public transport system. Sofia 's transport system consists of trolley-buses, buses and taxis. Sofia Airport is the largest in Bulgaria and and its scheduled flights connect the country directly with most major airports in Europe. The real estate market in Sofia has skyrocketed in recent years, with prices almost doubling between 2005 and 2006.
A popular tourist place with the citizens of Sofia is the ski resort of Mount Vitosha, easily accessible by road or by cabin lifts from the very outskirts of the city. Only one hour's drive there is also the beautiful mountain resort Borovets. Not far from the city are the ancharevo and Iskar lakes, which are a great location for fishing, windsurfing and yachting. |
