Flights to Cape Verde take approx 6 hours from the UK . Cape Verde is just one hour behind GMT. Direct flights from Manchester start in March 2006, and there are currently talks being initiated to provide direct flights from Ireland .

Weekly flights flown by Astraeus' Boeing 757 aircraft depart from London Gatwick's North Terminal on Thursdays at 09:45 and arrive at Sal 14:40 return flights depart at 15:40 and arrive back in London Gatwick at 22:20.
Weekly flights from Manchester operate on Thursdays, flown by Astraeus' Boeing 737-700 aircraft departing at 09:15 and arriving at Sal at 14:35. Return flights depart at 15:35 and operate with a short stop at Banjul in the Gambia arriving in Manchester at 00:45 on Friday morning.
From Sal there are short local flights to other islands, or more leisurely travel via ferry.
With the new International Airport in the capital, Praia, on the island of Santiago, larger planes have access to the islands and The Cape Verde national Airline, TACV.
There is an " Open Skies " policy which allows other airlines in addition to the Cape Verde national airline TACV, to fly to Cape Verde, leaving room for more competition and cheaper air fares.
Visas for Cape Verde
All visitors need a visa to enter Cape Verde. There are three types of Visas : Transit, Tourist and Business.
The costs for a Single Entry are € 38.02 and Multiple Entry costs are € 72.34. These costs are subject to change.
The Visas are val id for a period of 6 months starting from the date of issue for 90-day visits.
